How to Fuliza M-pesa

Fuliza is an overdraft service offered by Safaricom to enable you complete mpesa transactions such as sending money , buy goods and pay bill options when you don’t have sufficient money in your account.

To use this service, you must have a registered Safaricom number that has been active for at least 6 months.

How to opt in Fuliza

To register for this service;

  1. Dial *234#
  2. Select fuliza M-pesa.
  3. Select opt in.
  4. Select yes to get started with the service.
  5. Agree to the terms and conditions.

How to check Fuliza limit

To check your fuliza limit;

  1. Dial *234#
  2. Select fuliza M-pesa.
  3. Select my balance.
  4. You will receive a message from Safaricom with the outstanding balance and its due date.

You can borrow as many times as you want as long as you are within your limit.

How much does Fuliza charge?

How to increase Fuliza limit

To increase your limit;

  • Continuously use M-pesa while repaying your loans on time to increase your credit worthiness.
  • You can opt out of the service then register again to increase your limit. This is subject to you having repaid your loans on time, to warrant a higher limit.

How to Fuliza credit

To buy airtime through this service;

  1. Go to your mpesa menu
  2. Select the buy airtime option
  3. Select buy for my phone or other phone
  4. Enter the airtime amount
  5. Enter Mpesa pin
  6. Accept the fuliza option

How to repay Fuliza loan

  • Deposit money in your M-pesa account.
  • Receive money into your M-pesa account.

If you repay your loan partially, the interest due is deducted first then the loan facility is deducted afterwards.

How to opt out of Fuliza

  1. Dial *234#
  2. Select opt out.
  3. Select yes to proceed.

Opting out may lead to a decrease or increase of your limit if you choose to register for the service again.

What happens if you default on Fuliza?

There are a couple of penalties Safaricom may levy to you, if you default on this type of  loan;

  • Safaricom may terminate the service and do away with your limit.
  • If you hold any funds with CBA bank, Safaricom may hold them as security or collateral till you repay your loan.
  • They might engage debt collection agencies to recover the amount in default.
  • They may negatively list you in CRB. This means you will not be able to access any loan facility from any lending institution till you repay the loan.
